Overview
The Unlocked Runtime runs inside the game and exposes it to your Lua scripts, UnlockedKit, and Unlocky.
The Unlocked Runtime (formerly ULoader) is the part of UnlockedEditor that runs inside an Unreal Engine game. UnlockedKit installs it into a game; from then on the game loads it at startup and your scripts run inside the game process.
This documentation describes runtime 4.0.1, which ships Lua API 2.8.0.
What gets installed
The runtime is installed into the game's Binaries\Win64 folder next to the game executable:
dxgi.dllis a small proxy that the game loads automatically. Its only job is to start the runtime.UnlockedRuntime.dllandUnreal.dllare the required core.- Everything under
Modulesis optional. Delete a module DLL to remove that feature.
Only one dxgi.dll proxy can exist in Win64. If another mod loader already installed one, UnlockedKit refuses to overwrite it.
Modules
| Module | Provides |
|---|---|
Unlocked.Connector.dll | The local named pipe that UnlockedKit uses to send Lua and read logs. |
Unlocked.MCP.dll | The in-process MCP server that Unlocky and other AI tools use. Respects enable_mcp in uloader.ini. |
Unlocked.Lua.dll | Sandboxed Lua 5.5 sessions and the Lua API. |
Unlocked.GUI.dll | The in-game overlay: DirectX hooks, editor views, and hotkeys. |
Modules are discovered once, after the engine and runtime services finish initializing. They are not hot-reloaded.
In-game overlay
With the GUI module installed, press Insert to open or close the overlay menu, and End to unload the runtime from the game.
Configuration
Behaviour is controlled by uloader.ini. UnlockedKit writes sensible defaults when it installs the runtime. See Configuration.
Console commands
The runtime enables the Unreal developer console and the built-in cheat manager by default, so commands such as Ghost, Slomo, and ToggleDebugCamera work in most games. See Console commands.
